SUMMER 2026

a new documentary film - a feast for the eyes & ears - 10 years in the making...
From director, animator, and musician Tom Babbitt comes a brand new documentary, "Natalie & Sam: Babbitt Everlasting" - a deeply personal and visually striking hybrid that blurs the lines between memory, imagination, and reality. This film serves not only as a creative exploration of identity and legacy but also as Babbitt’s intimate response to a question once posed by his artistically driven parents — a question that became both a challenge and a guiding force in his life: "If you could create something truly everlasting, would you?" Through a rich tapestry of animation, live-action, and music, Babbitt crafts a work that is as emotionally resonant as it is visually inventive — a meditation on art, inheritance, and the enduring power of creation.

Screen shots from across the length of the film.

TOM BABBITT
Director

Tom lives in Boston with his wife and creative collaborator, veteran Boston photographer Francine Zaslow. Babbitt studied art, music theory & composition at Oberlin and Hampshire Colleges; He played in Boston clubs in the late 80's with "Talking to Animals" before going to MASSART and working as an Art Director for over a decade. In the early 2000's, he earned his Masters in Counseling Psychology at Antioch New England Grad School, and works in private practice to this day. He once set a goal for himself to create a :60 animation every day - and post them on Instagram - he ran out of steam roughly 200 days later. He's been writing and recording music since his mid-teens, and has created a large body of Fine Artworks since COVID - www.BabbittArt.com - and is currently showing at TAG Gallery in Boston's SOWA District. This is the "template" his parents handed down... with them, it seemed there was nothing they wouldn't try.
This latest project brings together all these lines of inquiry - as an animator, filmmaker, editor, composer, singer-songwriter and psychotherapist. With vulnerability and humor, Tom tells the story of his irrepressible, complicated parents and the creative legacy they passed down—a legacy that continues to compel him forward.
